Shoplifting in Arizona is defined by A.R.S. § 13-1805. According to the law, if you are taking any kind of items from a shop without paying for them or replacing the price tag to get a lower price is considered act of shoplifting.

The offense will be charged as a misdemeanor if the merchandise is worth less than $1,000. 

Penalties could consist of:

  • Imprisonment for six months or more.
  • Penalties might get up to $2,500

Felony: 

  • If the case shows that the amount is more than $1,000, it may be charged as a class 6 felony, which carries a maximum sentence of 1.5 years in jail.
